Description
Elara Hartwell is alone in the world. When she inherits a crumbling mansion on a hill, she expects solitude. Instead, she finds Nathaniel, a ghost who has haunted the house for a hundred years. He is drawn to her by the scent of rain on roses, a fragrance that reminds him of his mother’s garden. She is drawn to him by his poetry, his sadness, his longing.
They fall in love, though they can never touch. She ages; he remains young. She gives up ten years of her life for one night with him. He watches her wither and fade, unable to help.
As the years pass, Elara grows old and Nathaniel grows faint. Their love is real, but death is stronger. In the end, they must face the impossible choice: to stay together in suffering, or to let go forever.
THE SCENT OF RAIN is a tragic romance about love that transcends death, but cannot conquer it. A story that will break your heart and stay with you long after the final page.
